3.5% Raises Effective September 1st | Equity Increases to Follow

The final across-the board raise negotiated in the 2023-2027 PSC-CUNY Contract is effective as of September 1, 2026. All eligible members will see the 3.5% raise in your first paycheck reflecting your work after September 1. Total across-the-board raises in the contract amount to 13.4%.

Equity increases for the lowest-paid full-time titles begin this fall semester. (Teaching adjunct equity increases began last January.) Assistants to HEO will receive a $1,000 lump sum payment, CLIP and CUNY Start Instructors will receive $2,000, and all titles in the College Laboratory Technicians series will receive $5,000. These lump sum equity payments should arrive on the first pay date in November (11/6/26 for NYC payroll and 11/12/26 for NYS payroll). Graduate Assistant equity increases begin in December. Each of these amounts will then be reflected in the base salary for these titles starting in March 2027.

Also starting this fall semester: Full-time Lecturers and Doctoral Lecturers, including all EOC Lecturers, who had attained their Certificate of Continuous Employment (“CCE”) prior to September 1st will receive a one-time $2,500 payment. The CCE payment should also arrive on the first pay date in November (11/6/26 for NYC payroll and 11/12/26 for NYS payroll). Lecturers who earn a CCE after September 1, 2026 will get the $2,500 payment upon attainment.

The city’s labor movement will come together on the Tuesday after Labor Day to rally and march through Lower Manhattan. Sign up here to be part of the PSC contingent. The rally will begin on Liberty Street between Church Street and Broadway, with the march proceeding north on Church Street before turning onto Worth Street. Assembly will begin at 4:30pm, the rally will start at 5:00, and the march will step off at 6:00. RSVP: NYC Labor Day Rally and March, 9/8

Last Tuesday, August 18th, the PSC joined elected officials and a coalition of progressive groups to rally in support of New York City’s pied-à-terre tax prior to the City Council hearing on the law. Speakers described how the popular tax will help to close the city’s budget shortfall, preserve essential services, and fund the Mayor’s affordability agenda.

“The pied-à-terre tax takes a modest but important step to get New York City’s ultra-wealthy to pay their fair share,” said Jen Gaboury, First Vice President of PSC/CUNY. “We’re rallying today because of a Randy Mastro special – a tactic to kick up sand and delay implementation on bringing in revenue, just like what happened with congestion pricing. Let’s focus on fixing things: New York City shouldn’t have thousands of vacant ghost properties owned by real estate speculators. We need more homes where New Yorkers live, better transit, and genuine investments that make our economy healthier – including free, fully funded public higher ed.”

The PSC’s Immigrant Solidarity Working Group has updated their recommended syllabus statement to include information for students affected by the Trump administration’s revocation of Temporary Protective Status for immigrants from Haiti, Syria and 11 other countries.

Court Support Every Friday Morning

If you have been through the PSC’s online court support training, please join with fellow union members to bear witness and support immigrants who are called to the courts at 26 Federal Plaza. The PSC has joined 11 other New York City academic unions to call out Hofstra University administrators for disrespecting their unionized faculty at the bargaining table. The workers, represented by AAUP, have faced heavy-handed tactics and demands for unacceptable concessions. Click here to read a letter to Hofstra President Susan Posner from the city’s higher education labor movement. It demands that her administration bargain in good faith with serious proposals.

Join colleagues from across CUNY for a picnic and a pickup softball game at Central Park! We’ll gather with fellow union activists for some food and fun, and a friendly game of softball to close out the summer and welcome in the new semester. No prior experience or equipment is required to participate (extra equipment is welcome if you have it) – all PSC members are welcome!

The PSC will provide light refreshments, but please pack your own picnic lunch and bring a blanket or camp chair to sit on.

The PSC’s Teacher Education Working Group invites teacher educators throughout CUNY to participate in our second annual research forum. The theme of this year’s conference is “Educator Power: Resistance, Justice, Healing.” There is no cost to attend this day-long forum at the PSC Union Hall (25 Broadway, 15th Floor).
