More than 5,000 people have signed a national petition in support of a moratorium on implementing CUNY’s Pathways initiative. Thousands explained why they decided to sign; here is some of what they had to say. [See also: National Petition Backs Moratorium and Pathways Forced Into Slow Lane.]

On November 29, about 200 fast-food workers went out on strike in restaurants across New York City, calling for a raise to $15 an hour and recognition of their independent union, the Fast Food Workers Committee.

Superstorm Sandy highlighted the many challenges posed by human-induced climate change. CUNY faculty, in turn, are helping shape how our society responds with their research, teaching and policy analysis.
