NY’s Congressional Reps Must Defend Research Funding | Immigrant Solidarity Petition Delivery

May 30, 2025

No ICE/DHS on CUNY Campuses!

PSC Members Deliver Over 7,300 Signatures to CUNY

On Tuesday, May 27th, PSC members joined students and community allies to demand that the CUNY central administration ensure the safety and freedom of immigrants on campuses. Union leaders, students, and rank and file members of the PSC’s Immigrant Solidarity Working Group met outside CUNY’s midtown headquarters to deliver a petition signed by more than 7,300 members of the CUNY community demanding “No ICE/DHS at CUNY.”

“Every one of those signatures represents an organizing conversation, a political connection, and the creation of an alliance that is going to sustain our work,” said PSC President James Davis. “We have an immediate goal today to deliver the demands expressed on the petition. We need to see those demands enacted. But we have a longer term struggle, a goal of defeating a fascist administration.”

Meet at 1:30 PM to March with the PSC

No Kings Mobilization, Saturday, June 14

On Saturday, June 14th New York City will march from Bryant Park to Madison Square Park to defy the authoritarian power grabs and billionaire-first priorities of Donald Trump and his enablers. The action is one of 1200 events being organized as part of a national NO KINGS mobilization. Sign up at this link to march with the PSC contingent and plan to meet us at 1:30 PM in front of Guttman Community College on West 40th Street facing Bryant Park (map). The march is scheduled to step off at 2:00 PM.

Trump is spending tens of millions in taxpayer dollars to celebrate his birthday with a military parade—6,000 soldiers, fighter jets, and 150 tanks and armored vehicles rolling through the nation’s capital to glorify his image and silence dissent. All while Republicans claim there’s “no money” for Social Security, SNAP, Medicaid, Pell grants, or public education.

Tell us you’ll be there June 14th to march for dignity, democracy, and a government that serves the people—not a king.

NO KINGS: JUNE 14 RSVP

Defend Federal Research Funding for CUNY & SUNY

Sign & Share the Open Letter from the Defend Research Funding Working Group

Federal investment in research generates enormous benefits for our health, our global leadership in innovation, and our economy. In the sciences and beyond, federal grants also provide support to students and academic workers. Our Congressional representatives must insist that appropriated funds be disbursed as intended and must resist severe cuts that will prevent future therapies and other innovations. Add your name and share this sign-on link far and wide to help us collect endorsements from as many CUNY and SUNY researchers as possible. We’ll keep you updated on the Working Group’s plans to meet with our representatives and deliver the letter.
