ZOOM CHAPTER MEETING MAY 18th.
The meeting will be in two parts:
- A speaker on Athena
- An update of the pandemic as it impacts retirees and the PSC. To expedite this part of the meeting, we ask that attendees send us questions and concerns in advance to [email protected] with the subject head “Covid-19 questions.”
Dania Rajendra, the national director of Athena and former member of the PSC staff, wIll speak on the grassroots alliance being built against the tech giant Amazon. In a front-page article on November 26, the New York Times reported on Athena, a new coalition that “comprises three dozen grassroots groups involved in issues like digital surveillance, antitrust and working conditions in warehouses. The goal is to encourage and unify the resistance to Amazon that is now beginning to form.” (As the pandemic put a focus on Amazon, including concerns and even organized resistance in its warehouses and offices, the Times did a follow-up story on April 18th).
Monday, May 18th, 1 – 3 pm
An invitation to this Zoom meeting will be sent out by email to chapter members approximately a week in advance. Unfortunately, we do not have email addresses for all members of the chapter. If you did not get an invitation to the May 8 meeting, email us at [email protected].
