Support Locked Out Con-Ed Workers

Eighty-five hundred Con-Ed workers represented by Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 1-2 are still locked out after weekend talks failed to resolve the dispute. Con-Ed is refusing to allow workers to report to work, and the corporation has cut off all compensation, including healthcare benefits for the workers and their families. During negotiations, Con-Ed pressed for higher healthcare premiums and co-pays and the scrapping a defined-benefit pension for a 401(k)-type savings plan—all this while CEO Kevin Burke brings home $25 million. The PSC is a member of the New York Central Labor Council, which is supporting the UWUA workers. You can help by signing the petition, complaining to the State Department of Public Services and by joining them on the picket line. New York City and Westchester picket locations have been posted on the New York AFL-CIO website.
