This Week in the PSC (02.13.21): Defend Our Contract! | Help Pass the New Deal for CUNY

Mar 18, 2021

Betrayal: CUNY Refuses to Implement Equity Raises for Assistants to HEO and Lecturers

Honor our contract_header2.jpg
The CUNY administration is refusing to honor the contract they signed—again! First they laid off thousands of adjuncts, then they withheld our 2% raise, now they have said that they are indefinitely delaying payment of the $1,000 “equity raise” for Assistants to HEO that was supposed to show up in paychecks this week. And they’re also planning not to pay the equity raise for Lecturers due on April 1.

Emergency Demonstration Monday at Noon to Defend our Contract!

LOCATION: CUNY Central Offices, 205 East 42nd Street (2nd Ave.)
DATE AND TIME: 02/15/21 12:00pm – 02/15/21 1:00pm
Demand that Chancellor Matos Rodríguez pay the equity raises agreed to in our contract. Come masked and dressed for the weather!
Let us know you’ll be there.

PSC to Lawmakers: CUNY is Essential for a Just Recovery from the COVID Crisis

At a hearing last week about the State budget PSC President Barbara Bowen testified that lawmakers must embrace proposals for new revenue and support investment that empowers CUNY to address the racism and inequity laid bare by the COVID crisis. She called on the Legislature to 1) fund the first year of the New Deal for CUNY, 2) raise revenues by ending tax breaks for the ultra-rich, 3) undo the damage done to CUNY by the State’s “withholding” of funds and the freeze on contractual raises, and 4) reject the $41.8 million in cuts to CUNY proposed in the Executive Budget. Read her testimony. See the PSC’s State Budget Platform for Fiscal Year 2022.
