The CUNY administration has failed to properly deduct and submit pension contributions for hundreds of PSC members to the city pension systems. This systematic problem has left our members liable for make-up payments and interest, in some cases amounting to tens of thousands of dollars. These oversights and errors are unacceptable, and the financial burden they place on PSC members must be rectified. We’re taking decisive action to protect our members and prevent further issues.
- CUNY must modernize their systems and conduct a full pension audit—these issues can’t keep happening, and affected members must be notified.
- Members who have been affected should be made whole and have the interest and their lost tax benefits covered, or their pensions fully credited.
About the legislative proposal
This spring, State Senator Robert Jackson and State Assemblymember Phara Souffrant-Forrest introduced legislation that would require CUNY to audit its pension system.
