Exhibition Opening: The Struggle for Free Speech at CCNY, 1931-42

This exhibit of photographs, cartoons, and graphics documents the rising tide of student and faculty activism during the Great Depression. This activism brought repeated crackdowns by the administration, and a legislative investigation which ultimately resulted in the dismissal of over 50 CCNY faculty and staff-the largest academic purge in U.S. history.
