The Mayor’s Executive Budget creates a $52.6 million deficit in CUNY’s community college operating budget: it provides $26.7 million fewer dollars compared to the FY2011 adopted budget and $25.9 million in unfunded mandatory expense increases, enrollment growth and new programs. The Mayor would also zero out funding for Vallone Scholarships, Black Male Initiative, Murphy Institute for Worker Education, Center for Puerto Rican Studies, the Dominican Studies Institutes and Creative Arts Team.

You can help by urging key New York City Council Members to restore and enhance funding for CUNY’s community colleges using our Act Now system. You can sign your name to our sample letter, or write a personal message about how the cuts would impact you and your students.
