Nearly 9,000 PSC members responded to the union's first electronic membership survey. Questions on bargaining priorities, satisfaction with the most recent PSC-CUNY contract and the importance of paying union dues were some of the issues that the PSC members who took the survey answered.


The current PSC-CUNY contract expires on November 30. The union’s bargaining team is listening to members and preparing demands.

The PSC, along with NYSUT, student groups and the academic union at SUNY, United University Professions, are gearing up for an intense, short-term campaign to demand that Governor Andrew Cuomo sign the bill that would guarantee funding for mandatory cost increases.

The Trump administration recently announced plans to end DACA, an Obama administration program that gave qualified undocumented immigrants a reprieve from deportation and a work permit. Thousands of CUNY students are affected, and faculty, staff and students are organizing around the issue.

PSC Executive Council Member Lenny Dick passed away. A lifelong and tireless activist, he leaves behind a legacy of always speaking out against injustice and not being discouraged or diverted in the struggle.

"Right-to-work" laws, bolstered by anti-Semitic ideas of a Jewish conspiracy, originated in the South as a way to maintain Jim Crow labor relations.

Nationwide, academics are concerned about the rise of “fake” academic journals targeting professors. PSC members are taking note.

With several key city races this November, the union's legislative committee is working on both educating and endorsing candidates who are dedicated to supporting CUNY faculty, staff and students.
