Rent Guidelines Board Hearing: FREEZE THE RENT!

Help Freeze the Rent!

One of three core promises of Mayor Mamdani’s campaign was to freeze the rent for 2.4 million New Yorkers. The final decision will be made by the independent Rent Guidelines Board, and three of the seven RGB meetings on the possibility of a rent freeze are happening at CUNY campuses: Thursday May 7 at LaGuardia Community College, Monday June 8 at Hostos Community College, Thursday June 11 at City Tech. The final vote of the Rent Guidelines Board will take place at the June 25, 2026 public meeting.

The Mayor can no longer take a public position on freezing the rent because of the independence of the Rent Guidelines Board; we need to make sure that they hear from us directly to help produce a more affordable New York City!
