Participate in a Nation-wide Op-Ed/Letter to the Editor Campaign
Science Homecoming (@sciencehomecoming.bsky.social) is organizing the submission of op-eds to local newspapers in an initiative known as the McClintock letters (more info here). The goal is to publish on or about June 16, the birthday of Barbara McClintock (the first American woman to win a Nobel Prize in the sciences). Our working group will coordinate and support the submission of letters and op-eds from CUNY faculty and staff.
As scientists, we typically focus on data-driven communication and avoid personal information, but this initiative provides an opportunity to communicate a more individual story, and to have that story amplified by the many being submitted simultaneously.
