Save our Café! Petition

At City College, the CCNY-alumni owned and operated café on the second floor of NAC is being taken over by a Starbucks, operated by Aladdin Dining Services. This is part of a larger plan at CUNY to have Aladdin manage all of CUNY’s food operations. Aladdin is owned by a multinational corporation named Elior Group, which has a history of worker exploitation.

In response to this, students have organized a campaign to “Save our Café!” The campaign’s demands (which are stated in this petition) are simple: save the Alumni-run café, remove Starbucks and protect small business, and thereby honor our mantra of “upward mobility” for working-class NYers!

In Solidarity,

Nancy Cardwell and Pam Stemberg, CCNY Chapter Co-Chairs
