The PSC has secured agreement from CUNY to extend the Remote Work Agreement through June 30, 2023. This will affect HEOs, CLTs, faculty librarians and others, but I know that all PSC members know about this issue and share in the union’s fight to protect our members’ working conditions and our students’ learning conditions. We can now, finally, concretize our work and personal plans; and we can continue to serve our students with flexible work scheduling.
Thank you to the many members who spoke up at your college, and even distributed petitions, to let management know that the delay in extending the agreement was not acceptable. I said as much at the CUNY Board of Trustees meeting on Monday of this week.
Now that we have this uncertainty behind us, I hope all of you have made a personal commitment to be a part of the union’s budget and contract campaigns. The State and City budgets and the PSC contract negotiations could not be more closely linked. An even more substantial influx of funding from the State than last year and an end to the cuts the city is inflicting upon CUNY and most city agencies will help us achieve the gains that we and our students deserve in this round of contract negotiations.
Please email Tiffany Brown ([email protected]) to sign up to meet with your elected representative, join in a lobbying visit to Albany, or meet with an official in your local electoral district. Join your Campus Action Team to help build organizing power for the contract campaign or work with students and community groups in CUNY Rising Alliance. All in the interest of full funding, a just PSC contract, and a New Deal for CUNY!
In solidarity,
Andrea Vásquez
PSC First Vice President
