Subject: RE: Pathways English Composition Committee Response re QCC issues

Dear Professor Smoke,

Thank you for your message, sent on behalf of the Pathways English Composition Committee.

I appreciate the concerns that you have raised, and believe deeply that the Queensborough faculty and administration will continue to work together closely on these issues. The Queensborough Vice President for Academic Affairs has sent an apology to the faculty, and it is my understanding that there have been productive discussions involving the Queensborough faculty and the administration. There are persons of good will and good intentions throughout Queensborough, persons who have previously-when working together–found good resolutions to difficult problems, and who will do so again.

Your commitment to giving our students an excellent education is very apparent and deeply appreciated. Evidence of your commitment is your dedication to ensuring that the courses submitted to your committee meet the specified learning outcomes–both those involving writing skills that relate to all courses in the Common Core, as well as those involving other important learning outcomes that are specific to the English Composition courses.

Thank you again for your letter and for your commitment to our students.

Sincerely,
Lexa

Alexandra W. Logue
Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost The City University of New York
