Ask your NYC Council member to sign the letter to the Mayor!

Take Action to Stop the Switch to Medicare Advantage

Preserve premium free Senior Care!

The following is a letter sent to PSC retirees urging them to take action to stop the switch from traditional Medicare to Medicare Advantage (and to preserve premium-free NYC Senior Care).  In service members are asked to join retirees in this action.

Take Action to Stop Medicare Advantage!

Dear Retirees:

As part of the next step in the fight to stop Medicare Advantage we are asking our City Council Members to join a sign on letter to Mayor Adams. Based on the PSC proposal, the letter urges the Mayor to preserve premium-free Senior Care, form a stakeholders commission, and buy time – using the City’s current budget surplus – for the commission to address the true causes of the rising cost of healthcare for NYC, as other states and municipalities around the country have done.

In addition, we found out that the MLC will be asking member unions to vote on the Aetna contract March 9th. Please read James Davis’ statement on why will be voting “NO” on behalf of PSC.

Please write to and call your councilmember today and ask them to sign on to the letter provided in the “tool kit” that is linked below:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bk1-K4aWFBaI8uFC6qfGNuxi1lJdIzIc8Lx_Y143aJQ/edit

In the tool kit you will find a sample of an email you can send to your councilmember; a link to the letter that we want the councilmember to send to the Mayor; a script for a follow up phone call; and a list of councilmembers, their emails addresses and phone numbers. We would like to track our outreach and make sure all Council Members are being contacted so if you can let Ava Farkas, the Retiree Chapter Organizer know who you are reaching out to, that would be great – you can email her at: [email protected]

Please act today!!!!

Together in struggle,
