Bargaining Updates 31 and 32
The bargaining sessions on September 19th and 24th took place in the PSC Union Hall and at CUNY Central, respectively, both with PSC members there to observe. President Davis reiterated the PSC’s demand for a stronger economic offer with better raises during both sessions. The union put forward a new counteroffer on adjunct job security on the 19th. CUNY shared their “concerns” about it on the 24th and is preparing to make another counteroffer on the issue. On the 19th, the PSC presented a revised proposal on CLT promotional opportunities and on the 24th, we returned to two demands that are critical to our members, supplemental reassigned time for research for post-tenured faculty, and remote work for professional staff and faculty librarians. Protest the CUNY Trustees Hearing
October 21, John Jay College
Click here to tell us you will be there in solidarity
as we confront the CUNY Board of Trustees
and demand real raises now!
4 PM Meet at 59th St. Entrance
Between 10th – 11th Aves for Hearing
5 PM Meet at 10th Ave Steps for Protest
CUNY management offered unacceptable raises six months ago, a year after their top executives received 27% and 30% raises. They haven’t put another dollar on the bargaining table for us since March. We need a large turnout of PSC member protestors at the October 21st Board of Trustees hearing to let them know there will be no business as usual for CUNY management until we get a fair offer. Fill out the RSVP form at this link so we can count you in. Sign up, stay flexible, and be ready to gather on October 21st at 4 PM. We need you there to win the best possible contract.

Get Out The Vote
Get On The Bus
The outcome of the November elections will have an enormous impact on PSC members, CUNY students, public higher education, and labor. We need your help to get out the vote for the Harris/Walz ticket and for pro-union, pro-education congressional candidates on Long Island.
You can sign up to join us on Zoom for virtual phone banks Tuesday nights at 6PM, or you can get on a bus to help turn out union voters in the critical swing state next door: Pennsylvania. PSC members will have seats on the buses Saturday, October 19th and Saturday, October 26th. It will be a full-day commitment, from 7:00AM to 5:00PM. More information and registration for these events are on the PSC’s GOTV page. Contact Sam Lewis at (212) 981 0386 or [email protected] for more information.
Memorial Sloan Kettering – Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Negotiations
CUNY faculty and staff may have recently received an alarming letter from Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) about their possible departure from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) health network on January 1, 2025. The hospital and the insurer are negotiating rates. The letter is intended to pressure Anthem. New York City Commissioner of Labor Relations Renee Campion sent this follow-up letter setting the record straight to all municipal employees. Among other things, the Campion letter says that such negotiations are a “routine and normal part of the healthcare industry, and typically, these negotiations settle close to the renewal date.”
Campion expresses confidence that a new agreement will be reached. She also clarifies that: 1) state law requires both Anthem and MSK to honor the terms of their contract until at least March 1, 2025; 2) if MSK were to leave the network, there is still an agreement that ensures that all patients who begin treatment before March 1, 2025 will maintain their benefit coverage at MSK for the entire duration of their treatment; and 3) that these negotiations do not apply to retirees in the Senior Care plan.
