PSC President James Davis released the following statement regarding the NYC Council’s response to the Mayor’s Fiscal Year 2024 Preliminary Budget:
“We thank the Speaker and the Council for standing strong for CUNY and other institutions on which New Yorkers depend. CUNY enables students to transform themselves economically and intellectually, especially New Yorkers of color, immigrants, and first-generation students. After years of public disinvestment, our underfunded, understaffed University needs major additional funding, not more cuts. And the Council wants exactly what CUNY needs: full restorations of the Mayor’s cuts, funding for desperately needed academic advisors, a stronger CUNY Reconnect program, and more. Right on!”
