Even as we organize for our own major rally this Saturday, December 11, in Long Island City, Queens, the graduate student employees at Columbia University – a UAW local whose 3,000+ members have been on strike for five weeks – are requesting the support of union allies and community members, along with faculty and students, Wednesday, December 8, at 10 am. Columbia has threatened to replace all graduate student employees who refuse to report to work by this Friday. Please consider coming out to show your support! PSC leaders and members will be present: 116th St & Broadway entrance to the campus. The goal is to compel the administration to bargain in good faith toward the union’s demands, and to combat this latest attempt to break the strike through the threat of a mass layoff.
