The Professional Staff Congress celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The PSC was established through a 1972 merger of two faculty organizations – the Legislative Conference, led by Belle Zeller, and the United Federation of College Teachers, led by Israel Kugler. Retiree Chapter members have produced an exhibit on the union’s history that is on display in the PSC Union Hall. Above, Zeller (2nd from left) and Kugler (3rd from left) lead a 1973 picket at Baruch calling on CUNY to respect faculty rights and provide decent working conditions for all.
