Testify at the CUNY Board of Trustees Manhattan Borough Hearing
Tuesday, December 9, 4:30 PM
Aaron Davis Hall, City College of New York
129 Convent Avenue at West 135th Street
Borough hearings of the CUNY Board of Trustees are an opportunity for the CUNY community to demand action from the Board on a wide range of issues. We urge members to register and testify at the December 9th hearing about:
- The need to strengthen – not undermine – First Amendment rights and academic freedom on campuses and reinstate the four faculty members fired over the summer.
- Threats to health and safety in our CUNY workplaces
Any university issue is fair game at a borough hearing. The Board of Trustees has yet to create the new Senior Lecturer titles agreed upon in our new contract. So, lecturers and department chairs may want to speak to that issue. And if the CUNY budget request for the next fiscal year is released ahead of the hearing, members should sign up to speak about the investments needed at their colleges and worksites.
Persons wishing to testify are required to notify the Office of the CUNY Secretary via email at [email protected] prior to noon on Friday, December 5th. Your name, college and contact information should be included in the email. Copy PSC Communications Director Fran Clark at [email protected] when you email the CUNY Secretary, so we know that you will be there. Testimony is limited to three minutes. Substitution of registered speakers is not permitted. Bringing a written version of your statement to submit to the Board when you testify is recommended, but not required. Written testimony of any length can also be uploaded to the Secretary’s Dropbox at this link before 12:00 noon, Thursday, December 11th. Here is the official hearing notice.
