The PSC expects CUNY colleges to allow pre-occupancy walkthroughs in a timely manner to confirm the safety of facilities that are planned for reopening. If a college has failed to schedule a walk-through with PSC members by July 19, our union will escalate to bring them into compliance.
To that end, we are building a “flying squad” of activists who will be available to join safe reopening demonstrations beginning on Monday, July 19. Squad members should be prepared to respond quickly during the summer to calls to take part in actions on any campus in which administrators have not scheduled pre-occupancy walkthroughs or addressed threats to health and safety that PSC members have identified. Flying squads may also be needed during the Fall semester.
