PSC/CUNY – MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE CHAPTER
MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10 2016, 11.30AM IN ROOM AB1-312

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Clinton Crawford, Chair, PSC/ MEC who welcomed all in attendance.

The minutes of November 18, 2015 were approved as read. The agenda was as follows:

Recap of 2015 Activity:

• PSC position re the Contract:

Electronic Keys: It was observed by Dr. Crawford that the directive given to Chief Security Officer Stevens by President Rudy Crew regarding the lengthening of the re-activation period for the present electronic keys has not been done. Three plans of action were suggested by the PSC/MEC membership in response to Mr. Stevens’ failure to follow through as promised: 1) an email should be sent to Mr. Stevens, copied to President Crew, pertinent to the breakdown of his promise to lengthen the re-activation time. 2) David Orenstein and Paula Whitney Best were designated to set up an online petition with a view to ending the tyranny of the electronic keys. 3) A friendly visit be made to the Chief of Security’s office regarding his failure to resolve the issue of the electronic keys.

MEC Chapter News Letter: Thanks to David Hatchett, the MEC Chapter News Letter will be sent out electronically.

The Contract: Dr. Crawford reported that 1000 members participated in the visit to the Chancellor’s residence in protest of his inaction regarding our need for a viable contract. Further actions, including civil disobedience on November 4, 2015, and a mass meeting at Cooper Union on November 19 for all to strategize for more action going forward, have been planned. The Chair has asked that we all urge our colleagues to participate in these planned actions.

IRS Notice: Heather Grant from Human Resources addressed the body regarding the IRS notice received by most people in the institution. She pointed out that it was meant to indicate that anyone who has contributed more than $130.00 monthly to the Transit Commuter program is due to be reimbursed.

Report from last Labor Management Meeting: 1) Phones in adjunct offices are now working. 2) New CIO will be replacing all old computers. All who need new equipment should inform your department Chair who should copy the list to the PSC Chair, Dr. Crawford. 3) By next LM meeting, a specific protocol will be presented to illuminate payroll lateness.

Travel Re-imbursement: PSC members are entitled to $98 of PSC travel funds. Other avenues are the schools and the Office of Academic Affairs. Travel forms are available in the Dean’s office. Before travel 1) talk with department Chair re available amount, 2) apply through CUNYfirst in advance of travel and obtain email from Chair regarding the amount available to you, 3) check for reimbursement (be able to produce receipts, etc.).
