This Week in the PSC (04.18.16): Pledge to Vote Yes

May 10, 2016

Strike Authorization Vote May 2-11
Pledge to Vote Yes

Last week President Bowen sent a message to members describing the union’s plan for reaching an acceptable contract settlement. In the message, she announced the dates of the PSC’s strike authorization vote (May 2-11) and urged members to “give the union bargaining team the strongest possible support as we enter into what we hope will be the final stage of negotiations.” Click here to pledge to vote yes. When you do, you’ll be joining the thousands of union members who have publicly pledged to vote “yes” to authorize a decision to initiate a strike. The names of those who have pledged a “yes” vote will be published online before the voting begins on May 2. Make sure your name is there by signing up here! (No need to sign if you have done so already—we’ve got you.)

Strike Authorization Vote Balloting Information

The PSC strike authorization vote will be conducted from Monday, May 2, at 12 noon through Wednesday, May 11, at midnight (for internet and telephone voting). The vote will be administered by the American Arbitration Association, in accordance with the terms of the PSC constitution. Members can vote by internet, by telephone or by mail. Learn more.

Send PSC Your New Home Address before the Strike Authorization Vote
If you’re a member in good standing since January 2, you’ll be receiving ballot information for making your voice heard in PSC’s strike authorization vote. Once voting begins, you’ll be able to cast your ballot either by internet, telephone or on paper. But it all begins with a mailing and email message from the American Arbitration Association, which will give you instructions for voting, and a PSC phone number for assistance. If you’ve moved recently, the PSC may not have a current address for you on file. To ensure you receive a ballot and other vote-related mailings, please email your new mailing address to PSC Membership Coordinator Diana Rosato at [email protected].

Support the Verizon Strikers

Forty thousand unionized Verizon workers up and down the East Coast are on strike, fighting to preserve union jobs with fair pay and good working conditions. Despite amassing record-breaking profits in recent years, Verizon wants to close call centers and outsource jobs, reduce benefits and eliminate job security. To show solidarity and support, please sign the petition addressed to the Verizon CEO. You can also join the strikers on a picket line.
