Information Sessions on the New Health Care Plan
Emblem and United Healthcare are hosting a series of webinars for NYC employees, including CUNY faculty and staff, to discuss the new health insurance plan, the New York City Employee PPO Plan (NYCE PPO), which will replace the current comprehensive benefits plan administered by Emblem/GHI and Anthem/Blue Cross.
Scroll down to the Virtual Sessions subheading under this Plan Information Sessions heading on the NYCE PPO website to see the schedule and registration links. Some in-person and virtual CUNY agency briefings are also being scheduled. Check with your campus HR office to see if there’s one for your college.
The NYCE PPO Plan, administered by Emblem and United Healthcare, will start January 1, 2026, when participants in the GHI plan will be automatically transferred to the NYCE PPO. The other health plans now offered by the City will continue to be offered. Medicare-eligible retirees and their dependents are not affected by the new NYCE PPO, and supplemental benefits (Rx, Dental, Vision, etc.) provided by the PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund will remain unchanged. The PSC is compiling information here on the What’s Happening to Our Healthcare? webpage.

American cities are under attack! Instead of investing in schools, hospitals, and public services, the Trump Administration is sending masked agents into our streets, abandoning public education, making college less affordable, kicking millions off healthcare, shutting down the government, cutting SNAP benefits, and firing essential federal workers
New York City has been directly threatened — and we’re coming together to respond. On Wednesday, October 29 at 7 PM, unions, faith leaders, and community groups are hosting a citywide mass call to talk about what we can do right now to resist the occupation, protect our neighborhoods, and get connected to the growing resistance across the city.

The Billionaire Behind Trump’s Higher Ed Loyalty Oath Compact–And How We Fight Back
Who is Marc Rowan? Webinar
Thursday, October 30, 7PM
RSVP Here
PSC members, register here to join us and AAUP and HELU partners nationwide to learn about the billionaire behind Trump’s higher ed loyalty oath compact, and how we fight back. Billionaire Marc Rowan, CEO of the private equity giant Apollo Global Management, is a key author of the Trump administration’s “Compact” for higher ed—a loyalty oath that would award federal research funding based on allegiance to Trump’s far right ideological agenda, roll back the gains of the civil rights movement, and erode the freedoms to teach, learn, and speak. Learn about Rowan’s agenda, how he and other private equity executives exercise outsized power in higher education, how Apollo has contributed to the student debt crisis —and how we can fight back.

No Compact! No Loyalty Oaths! No Oligarchs!
Tell Billionaire Marc Rowan: Hands off Higher Ed
Protest Fri, Nov 7, 11AM, 9 West 57th St, Midtown
RSVP Here
Students, faculty and staff from NYC colleges and universities will protest Marc Rowan, the billionaire oligarch behind Trump’s “Compact” for colleges and universities, outside his private equity firm, Apollo Global Management. So far 7 of the 9 institutions initially invited to participate in the “compact” have rejected the extortionate offer, which ties federal funding to various ideological litmus tests. So the Trump administration is broadening outreach to any and all colleges and universities. The time is now to tell Rowan, the lead author of the “compact,” that we reject the deal.
Click here to tell us you’ll be there November 7th with the PSC contingent to defend the freedom to teach, learn, research, and speak out without government coercion or censorship! This action is part of nationwide Higher Education Day of Action sponsored by the AFT, AAUP, NEA and Sunrise Movement.

Demand Health and Safety Action at Queens College
More than 1,100 faculty, staff and students have signed a petition demanding that the Queens College administration take immediate action to protect the health of workers in Delany Hall during an ongoing construction project that has included asbestos abatement. The petition calls out the administration’s failure to ensure that proper protocols are followed and it charges Environmental Racism: workers in the building, which houses the College’s SEEK program, are primarily people of color. Even as employees have documented and reported serious respiratory illness together with recurrent dust and polluted air, the administration has dragged its feet. Sign the petition now to add your voice to their demand for a just and healthy workplace.
