More Contract Pickets at CUNY Central

Images from the November 12 picket organized by Queens and Brooklyn chapters. Check out the PSC’s Instagram for images from the November 14 picket organized by the PSC chapters from the Bronx and Staten Island.

PSC chapters and titles have been teaming up to organize a series of pickets to keep the pressure on CUNY management for a fair contract. Two very successful actions last week will be followed by two more this week: HEOs, CLTs and the Brooklyn College chapter will be at CUNY Central Wednesday, November 20th at 5PM and the Committee for Adjuncts and Part-timers will lead a picket Friday, November 22 at 4:30PM. CUNY Central is in Midtown at 205 E. 42nd St. Sign up here to participate in next week’s pickets.

Which picket will you join?

Legislative Committee Meeting Open to All PSC Members

Tuesday, November 19, 6:30 PM, on Zoom

Featuring Election Returns Analysis from Steven Romalewski, Director, CUNY Mapping Service, Center for Urban Research

Public higher education, unions, and the communities that CUNY serves will face significant challenges under a new Trump Administration. The PSC’s Committee on Legislation meets monthly to plan and coordinate members’ engagement with elected officials through lobbying, organizing and electoral work. Next steps after the presidential election will be on the agenda as we meet online Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30 PM. Register here. Special guest Steven Romalewski, director of CUNY Mapping Service from the Center for Urban Research, will share information on election returns and take questions. Help us to strategize how the PSC can leverage our advocacy and upcoming NYC endorsements to protect our university, our rights, our students, and our communities.

Decarbonize CUNY! Rally and NYPA Hearing

Wednesday, November 20, 5 PM, John Jay College

New York State is failing to meet its climate goals. CUNY’s outdated, polluting buildings rely on fossil fuels that poison our communities and endanger our futures. The PSC is building on the momentum of this fall’s Decarbonize CUNY Town Halls to continue demanding the New York Power Authority (NYPA) act NOW to decarbonize CUNY buildings and to build large-scale public renewables across New York State! NYPA is only hosting one public hearing in NYC. The hearing will be at John Jay College in the Lynch Auditorium on Wednesday, November 20th. There is a morning session from 10:00 AM – Noon and an evening session from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. PSC members will also join our partners at Public Power NY for a public rally that same day at 5PM! Sign up here to join us for the rally, or to commit to testifying. And check out this document for more background on what testifying entails.

Help keep up the pressure to Decarbonize New York!

CUNY's Microsoft email has a security block for mass mailings that has held up some of our emails. A few thousand members have already voted, and we will all have the chance to vote. AAA believes they have a workaround, and they will again send out the message to all eligible members who have not yet voted. The emails will begin to go out in batches tonight, Monday, December 23rd. It may take a while to land in your inbox, (spam, or junk mail.)
