Combatting Contingency in a Time of Political Repression

A hybrid forum about academic freedom, free speech and how contingency and adjunctification contribute to the suppression of political speech on campus.

  • Bryan Sacks, Chair of AAUP Committee on Contingency and the Profession and Part-time Lecturer at Rutgers

Speakers

  • Corinna Mullin, One of The Fired Four, CUNY Adjuncts Fired by Brooklyn College and other colleges for their pro-Palestinian activism
  • Lynne Turner, PSC VP for Part-timers and Adjunct Faculty at LaGuardia CC
  • Joe Ramsey, Chair of HELU Contingency Task Force and Senior Lecturer at UMASS Boston
  • Mobina Hashmi, Full-time faculty and Co-chair of the PSC chapter at Brooklyn College. Mobina was investigated for alleged violations of CUNY’s Henderson Rules for Public Order.
  • Geert Dhondt, Chair of the Economics Department at John Jay College whose decision to reappoint Corinna Mullin was overridden by administrators. Geert is currently facing a Title VI investigation.
