CUNY Rising Groups Call for More Investment in Final Budget

Top slideshow:

With funding for CUNY remaining at issue in the final hours of the State budget negotiations, 14 organizational members of the CUNY Rising Alliance are urging lawmakers to negotiate an enacted State budget that protects quality affordable education at CUNY.
Read their letter to Governor Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Flanagan and Assembly Speaker Heastie.
The groups welcome the governor’s announcement of full State funding of the $1.6 billion for CUNY’s senior colleges (last year’s funding level), but say State funding is needed for retroactive raises and a fair contract for CUNY’s 35,000 faculty and staff. They also call for a final budget that includes a tuition freeze and a fully funded maintenance of effort provision to meet CUNY’s mandatory cost increases.
The CUNY Rising Alliance is a broad coalition of CUNY allies who serve, mobilize and minister to millions of New Yorkers.

CUNY's Microsoft email has a security block for mass mailings that has held up some of our emails. A few thousand members have already voted, and we will all have the chance to vote. AAA believes they have a workaround, and they will again send out the message to all eligible members who have not yet voted. The emails will begin to go out in batches tonight, Monday, December 23rd. It may take a while to land in your inbox, (spam, or junk mail.)
