The City has an obligation to cover retirees’ health insurance costs, and SeniorCare has done it well, without premiums, co-pays, or prior authorizations. The Council will vote on a proposed Administrative Code change that breaks this compact. The code change also opens a door to future changes to the quality or cost of active employee health insurance.
Councilmember Carmen De La Rosa, Chair of the Committee on Civil Service and Labor, is holding a public hearing about the proposed Administrative Code change starting at 9:30 AM Monday, January 9, 2023.
The PSC continues to push for an alternative solution to the problem of rising health care costs, and the City Council needs to hear from PSC members that our proposal is worth supporting. We need PSC members to testify and to come out to City Hall at Monday morning to attend the hearing and urge the NYC Council to protect our healthcare!
Please arrive by 9am to ensure you get through security quickly and for a PSC photo near the City Hall steps. Look out for staff and fellow members wearing red PSC sweatshirts.
FIRST: Register here with the NYC Council if you plan to testify in-person, via Zoom Web or via Zoom Phone.
SECOND: Fill out the form below to let the PSC know that you have registered with the City Council and/or if you will turn out IN PERSON at City Hall at 9:30 AM Monday to show support for PSC members who testify.
THIRD: If you are planning to testify, prepare written testimony to submit for the record.
