College administrations have been announcing post-COVID budget cuts. The effects of anticipated cuts came when more than 2,000 part-timers lost their jobs and more than 100 lost their health insurance for the fall while class sizes ballooned.
Even as we continue to work collectively towards immediate solutions to the crises we are facing by fighting for workplace safety, pushing back on the delay in our raises and waging a class size campaign, we need to prepare for the possibility that the union will have to move quickly to more militant action.
It’s important that we know how many members at your campus are also willing to support potential militant action. Our goal as a union is to build organizing committees of 50 people per campus (1,000 member activists total) so that we can assess 10,000 members by the start of the Spring semester.
