Tax the Rich Town Hall & Revenue Campaign Kickoff

Fair share taxation is how New York can fund free buses, affordable housing, universal childcare, and a free and well-funded public university. It can keep our public sector strong and protect the services we depend on, even in the face of cruel federal budget cuts. Join experts and advocates, including NYSUT President Melinda Person, for an online town hall about why and how corporations and the ultra rich should pay their fair share of taxes in New York State. Then get involved in the campaign that will make our affordability agenda a reality. Click here to register and get the Zoom meeting link.

Testify at the CUNY Board of Trustees
Tuesday, December 9, 4:30 PM
Aaron Davis Hall, City College of New York
129 Convent Avenue at West 135th Street
Borough hearings of the CUNY Board of Trustees are an opportunity for the CUNY community to demand action from the Board on a wide range of issues. We urge members to register and testify at the December 9th hearing about:
- The need to strengthen – not undermine – First Amendment rights and academic freedom on campuses and reinstate the four faculty members fired over the summer
- Threats to health and safety in our CUNY workplaces
- Another topic that matters to you and your colleagues
Persons wishing to testify are required to notify the Office of the Secretary via email at [email protected] prior to noon on Friday, December 5th. Your name, college and contact information should be included in the email. Copy PSC Communications Director Fran Clark at [email protected] when you email the Secretary, so we know that you will be there. Testimony is limited to three minutes. Substitution of registered speakers is not permitted. Bringing a written version of your statement to submit to the Board when you testify is recommended, but not required. Written testimony of any length can also be uploaded to the Secretary’s Dropbox at this link before 12:00 noon, Thursday, December 11th. Here is the official hearing notice.
Rallying at Queens College to Demand Health and Safety Action
On Monday, November 17th, PSC members and CUNY students marched and rallied at Queens College to demand that President Frank Wu take immediate action to protect the health and safety of students and employees who were working in Delany Hall while substantial construction and asbestos abatement took place. The demonstration was organized to expose the administration’s shameful failure to act and to support PSC members who participated in a grievance hearing about the Delany Hall health and safety risks. Learn more on an Instagram post from the PSC and the Queens College PSC chapter.
