Ratification Bonus for Part-Timers | Rally & Letter to Reinstate the Fired Four

Jul 30, 2025

Ratification Bonus for Part-Timers

Ratification bonuses for eligible part-time employees paid by the state were paid Thursday, July 24. Eligible part-time employees paid by the city will be paid their ratification bonus this Friday, August 1. Click here for information about eligibility and how the proration works for Teaching and Non-teaching Adjuncts and Continuing Education Teachers.

If you have not received payment, or believe that you have received an incorrect amount, your first point of contact should be your campus HR or payroll person. Communicate with them before they reach out to the union. If HR provides an unsatisfactory answer, contact your grievance counselor immediately thereafter.

Flood their Inboxes! Tell CUNY: Reinstate the Fired Four at Brooklyn College!

Send the e-letter at this link right now to send a strong message in defense of academic freedom to Brooklyn College President Michelle Anderson, CUNY Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez, and CUNY Board Chairperson William Thompson. The letter demands the immediate reinstatement of four Brooklyn College adjuncts who were terminated as part of an apparent ideological purge. The targeting of these workers for their public support of the Palestinian people just days before a McCarthyite congressional hearing cannot stand. It is part of a broader assault on higher education that includes the Trump Administration’s suppression of scientific and academic inquiry and their demonization of diversity, equity and inclusion–a concept fundamental to CUNY and all of higher education. Send the letter now.

PSC Members Defending Immigrant Rights in the Courts

Every Friday morning this summer, PSC members who have gone through a union training are going to federal courthouses in Lower Manhattan to support immigrant New Yorkers. Since June, ICE and DHS have had an increased presence in NYC courtrooms as they accelerate cruel detentions and deportations. We do not confront or interfere with law enforcement, but by distributing valuable information and observing hearings, we are able to support those who attend routine mandated hearings. If you’ve participated in the PSC’s court support training, you are welcome to show up any Friday. We meet Fridays at 7:30 AM sharp in Thomas Paine Park, at the northern end of Foley Square.

2025 NYC Labor Day Parade & March

Join the PSC contingent as we march with 200 other New York City unions in a powerful display of solidarity and power. Click here to tell us you’re union proud, you oppose authoritarianism, and you plan to join us at the Labor Day Parade on Saturday, September 6. The PSC’s resistance to the Trump Administration’s attacks on our civil liberties, institutions and democracy will be prominent in the union’s parade messaging. So, please make a point of turning out if you’re engaged in the working groups and committees defending immigrants, research funding, academic freedom, LGBTQ+ rights and bodily autonomy.

The front of the parade steps off from 44th St. & Fifth Ave. at 10:00AM and will progress up Fifth Ave. to 64th St. The step-off time and staging area for PSC members are still tentative: 10:15 AM, East 46th St. between 5th and Madison Aves. Sign up to save the date and we’ll follow up with details.

AAUP Releases Report on AI & Higher Ed

The AAUP released a new report, Artificial Intelligence and the Academic Professions, sharing survey findings and calling for the establishment of policies in colleges and universities that prioritize economic security, faculty working conditions, and student learning conditions as advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies accelerate. The PSC secured language in the 2023-2027 contract for the first time ever to ensure that every CUNY course, regardless of modality, will have a faculty member/instructor of record in an Instructional Staff title, an important safeguard. As the AAUP report indicates, AI and other rapidly developing academic technologies have myriad implications for the work of our members. The union also secured agreement in this contract, “in recognition of the expansion of technology utilization in higher education and its potential impact on terms and conditions of employment,” to establish a labor-management committee specifically dedicated to addressing academic technology. We look forward to engaging PSC members on these critical issues.
