Post-Tenure Reassigned Time Application Deadline: December 15

The PSC recognizes the pressing need for research support for tenured faculty. To address this, the new PSC-CUNY contract introduces an exciting pilot program, the Post-Tenure Reassigned Time Award, aimed at providing additional research support for tenured assistant and associate professors. This three-year pilot program will allow recipients to take reassigned time in the 2026-2027, 2027-2028, or 2028-2029 academic years.

Post-Tenure Reassigned Time Awards will provide the following to successful candidates:

  • Faculty in CUNY Community College: one (1) 3-credit course release or two (2) 3-credit course releases at the Adjunct Replacement rate as of December 15 of the application year.
  • Faculty in CUNY Senior College, Comprehensive College, or Professional School: one (1) 3-credit course release at the Adjunct Replacement rate as of December 15 of the application year.

The application deadline for the current cycle is December 15, 2025, 11:59 PM EST. Your college may have an earlier internal deadline.

HOW TO APPLY: Please visit the CUNY Research Foundation site for details of the program.

If you have any questions, please contact Alexis Davis, [email protected]

This contractual provision is a direct result of the power and advocacy of your union. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and benefit from the support it provides for your research.

Protesting Billionaire Marc Rowan, Architect of Trump’s Compact for Higher Education

PSC members joined more than 100 higher education workers, students, and allies last Friday to send a message to billionaire Marc Rowan: Hands Off Higher Education! Rowan donated $1 million to elect Donald Trump in 2024, and he is a key author of the Trump administration’s “Compact” for higher education: an unconstitutional loyalty oath that would award federal research funding based on political fealty, roll back the gains of the civil rights movement, and erode the freedoms to teach, learn, and speak that are essential to education and to democracy itself. Apollo Global Management, the private equity firm he leads, has contributed to the crises of rising tuition and skyrocketing student debt. Apollo is majority owner of the parent company of the University of Phoenix — the largest single producer of student debt in the country. Check out the PSC Instagram for more photos and videos.

The protest was part of a national day of action organized by students and higher education workers to resist the Trump Administration’s attacks on university autonomy.

Hands Off NYC Neighborhood Day of Action!

This Saturday, November 15th, join your neighbors for a local event as part of the Hands Off NYC Neighborhood Day of Action!

Check out the map of events, which span the city and take all different forms: meet-ups in the park, canvasses of neighborhood businesses, art builds, and more! The goal is to bring us together with allies in our areas to build the relationships and power that we’ll need to keep ICE and the National Guard off our streets.

Events are happening all over the city, so connect with folks in your neighborhood at this link.

Queens College March and Rally: Demand Health and Safety Action!

President Frank Wu and the Queens College administration failed to protect the health and safety of workers and students at Delany Hall while substantial construction and asbestos abatement took place. This Tuesday, more than 20 PSC members visited President Wu to deliver a petition demanding health and safety action. The petition had more than 1,100 signatures, including many Delany Hall workers who have fallen ill. Instead of speaking to the union members, Wu locked his door and sent security guards to greet them and a surrogate to accept the petition. (See the Queens College PSC Instagram.)

A grievance hearing on the Delany Hall health and safety risks is scheduled for Monday, November 17th, and the PSC chapter is organizing an on-campus march in support of the Delany Hall community. PSC members and allies from any chapter are welcome to attend.

The march will begin at 12:30pm on Monday the 17th at the flagpole behind Jefferson Hall. It will end with a speakout and rally at Kiely Hall. Click here to tell your colleagues at Queens College that plan to be there.

Donate to the AFT Disaster Relief Fund

Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica three weeks ago and communities on the island will be grappling with catastrophic damage for a long time—homes destroyed, infrastructure compromised, and families displaced. Residents are in urgent need of emergency shelter, water, food, and medical supplies.

PSC members and allies can contribute via the AFT’s Disaster Relief Fund to help provide emergency assistance and long-term recovery support. When donating, please write “Jamaica” in the notes field.
