On December 12, 2025, PSC President James Davis issues the following statement:
“Our union is deeply disappointed by the City Council Committee on Ethics and Standards’ failure to censure Council Member Inna Vernikov for bringing a gun to a Brooklyn College protest. We share the condemnations expressed by some members of the Council, but it is not enough. Bringing a pistol to a non-violent protest outside of the Brooklyn College campus in 2023 and openly exposing it at her waist while yelling at the demonstrators was a clear and reckless act of intimidation by a high-ranking city official toward CUNY students exercising their rights. New Yorkers should expect better from the Committee on Ethics and Standards.”
