Have you been called back to on-campus work?

Have you been called back to on-campus work? The PSC needs to hear from you right away so we can fight for you! Please fill out this quick survey today to let us know. The union is taking action to protect you, and we need to hear from every member ASAP. Members’ health and even lives are at stake.

The union hears from members every day with concerns that CUNY will reopen and call you back to on-campus work before it is safe. No workplace issue is more important than protecting members’ lives. That’s why we need to know whether you have been called back to work on campus.

The PSC will fight any attempt to require any of our members to report to on-campus work if the return poses a risk of serious illness or death.

Yesterday afternoon the union sent this letter to the two senior managers at CUNY who are chairing the University’s Coronavirus Planning Task Force. The letter demands that in the absence of evidence that CUNY is in compliance with NYS State workplace safety requirements during the COVID-19 emergency, CUNY must immediately cease ordering workers back to on-campus work.

The PSC has also prepared to take legal action against CUNY to stop calls to return to on-campus work until CUNY has provided evidence that it is in compliance with all applicable workplace safety requirements for the COVID-19 emergency.

As union leaders, we see how hard you have worked this spring to continue to serve CUNY students and your profession even as your own lives have been rocked by coronavirus. We share your anger that CUNY management has responded to your dedication by failing to provide clear information and failing to show that the University is in compliance with NY State’s safety regulations.

Help your union to win this fight. Fill out the survey today, and join us next Tuesday in our in-person and virtual protest against college budget cuts.
