What is the NY Fair Pricing Act?
The NY Fair Pricing Act was introduced to protect patients from unfair billing practices and to make healthcare costs more predictable and equitable across the state.
The goal of the bill is to eliminate the significant price differences patients face when receiving the same care at hospital-owned facilities versus independent facilities.
This legislation is a critical step toward health equity, ensuring that working families, students, and union members aren’t penalized with inflated medical bills simply because of where they receive care. By addressing these price disparities, the Fair Pricing Act will help make our healthcare system more transparent, just, and accessible for all New Yorkers.
