There will be a town hall on October 14 at 12:30 pm (in person in room NVC 14-250) on “Promoting Climate Justice in New York City and Beyond”. Sponsored by the PSC’s Environmental Justice Working Group, this town hall will feature a presentation by Ashley Dawson, Professor of English at the College of Staten Island and author of numerous books including, most recently, Environmentalism from Below: How Global People’s Movements Are Leading the Fight for Our Planet (Haymarket, 2024). Professor Dawson will speak about the fight for climate justice globally as well as his work with Public Power NY to promote decarbonization and clean energy in New York State. We will also hear from Baruch students engaged in climate-oriented work, including Baruch Climate Scholars and TREEage. Finally, we will discuss what role our next mayor might play in addressing climate change and environmental justice.
