Chapter Meeting | September 29, 2022 · 12:30 pm

Baruch Chapter Meeting

Please Register: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwsdO6gqzooHtUyTymZvMbB5CbSLPbB0RRL

The first PSC-CUNY Baruch Chapter Meeting of Fall 2022 will take place on Thursday, September 29 at 12:30 pm on Zoom.   We will discuss our continuing efforts to fight for safe campuses and campus communities, learn about the timeline for the next round of PSC-CUNY contract bargaining, introduce plans for chapter activities for the semester, and much more.

There will also be a raffle to give away PSC gear including potentially hats, shirts, posters, and more. The raffle is open to all in attendance.

PROVISIONAL AGENDA

Introduction/Election of Alternate Delegates

We will begin by discussing leadership shifts and new roles/responsibilities within our chapter, including the need to elect two new alternates for the PSC Delegate Assembly. Nominations will be taken from the floor, including self-nominations.

Chair’s Report

The report will cover a number of specific issues related to the PSC and CUNY. Special attention will be paid to the negotiations around vaccinations and the union’s resistance to CUNY Central’s masking “guidance”. There will also be an opportunity to check-in regarding HEO concerns, including the shifting and complex situation with the Remote Work Agreement for Fall 2022. The report will conclude by briefly addressing preliminary results from the union-wide membership survey conducted in Spring/Summer 2022.

Next Stages in Contract Campaign/Campus Action Teams

PSC organizing staff and chapter leaders will discuss next steps for the contract campaign and the work of the campus action team. As contract negotiations begin to unfold, it is crucial for us to build member and public support for winning the contract we want!

Chapter Technology Implementation Survey

Sparked by the frustration expressed by members regarding the implementation of new platforms in Spring 2022 (namely around the introduction of Interfolio Faculty 180 and the shift to a new email client in May), a team of HEO and faculty activists have been crafting a survey to maximize our ability to understand how these shifts might have affected you. The survey will be used to develop our strategy for our next labor-management meeting with President Wu’s office.

Chapter Activity: Building Communities of Solidarity and Support

Chapter leaders will discuss planned initiatives to use this chapter as a space for providing resources and building solidarity among represented titles. With this in mind, we are hoping to pilot a few programs during this academic year. Working with Adjunct Faculty Services, we hope to offer a variety of activities ranging from workshops on accessing research and travel funding for Part Timers. We are also envisioning a PSC-oriented and PSC-led workshop on tenure and promotion for tenure track Assistant Professors and pre-CCE Lecturers.

There will also be ample opportunity during the meeting to address new or ongoing concerns.

Thanks to all of you and please stay safe,

Stuart Davis,

On Behalf of the Baruch PSC Chapter Executive Committee
