Update on Adjunct Health Insurance
In August we announced that the current adjunct health insurance had been extended through September 30. PSC continues to engage in daily negotiations with CUNY to arrive at a final agreement. The PSC’s aim is to ensure that eligible adjuncts will receive health insurance comparable to the insurance they receive now, without a break in coverage. That has been our aim since the beginning, and that continues to be our aim now. We remain focused on completing the agreement before the end of September. The PSC bargaining team appreciates that the current uncertainty about health insurance is extraordinarily difficult for those affected, and we are doing everything we can to reach resolution. First Negotiation Session Scheduled at Research Foundation Central Office
A team of PSC members from the CUNY Research Foundation Central Office will kick off negotiations on a new contract at a bargaining session September 27 at 3:30pm at the RF Central Office. The new bargaining team consists of Yolande Ogbajie (OTPS), Abel Guan (Finance), Thomas Kim and Julieann Brown (both Grants and Contracts). Seventy-five percent of the RF Central Office bargaining unit took part in a survey to help craft the demands that the team will bring to the table, and union members also voted unanimously to approve the demands.
