A Message from PSC President Barbara Bowen

Numbers are growing for the Women's March on New York City this Saturday, January 21! Sign up to let us know you plan to join the large PSC contingent and to receive updates. Bring your family, colleagues and friends. All are welcome. We have also invited CUNY students and labor activists from other unions to march with us. Join us on this historic day of resistance.

Expected turnout for the NYC march has grown; the PSC is in Group 1. Only Group 1 participants are scheduled to be part of the rally before the march in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. If you want to attend the rally, you must be at our gathering point, the northwest corner of 46th Street and First Avenue, by 10:15 a.m.

If you prefer just to join the PSC contingent for the march, you should be at the northwest corner of 46th Street and First Avenue by 11:30.

The Women's March on New York City is expected to be one of the largest in the country. Help us to send the strongest possible statement that New Yorkers will resist attempts to destroy public education, demonize immigrants and destroy the rights of women and workers.

PSC Meeting Point:
Northwest corner of 46th Street and 1st Avenue
For the rally and march: by 10:15
For the march only: by 11:30

The union will provide signs and marshals, but please feel free to bring your own signs. There is a lot to say!

Among our signs will be some that call for the rejection of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education. Thank you to the many members who tried to reach the U.S. Senate and urge our representatives to vote No on the DeVos confirmation. The circuits were jammed yesterday. If you couldn’t get through, keep trying—there is still time to speak up. You can watch the confirmation hearing here and read about DeVos’s history here.

The PSC will be well represented at the march on the same day in Washington, but if you are not planning a trip to DC, please join us right here in New York City. (Unfortunately, we cannot offer any more places on buses to Washington; the seats we had are now filled. If you are going to Washington and want to join the AFT contingent for the march, meet at the AFT building, 555 New Jersey Ave NW, at 9:00 a.m.)
Let us know you will march with us. Step up, sign up and be part of this important march. I will be proud to march with you.
