CUNY Rising, a coalition of 33 CUNY-allied groups, including the PSC, will host two hearings for city and state elected officials, one in Brooklyn and one in the Bronx. PSC chapters are helping to organize both events. The Brooklyn hearing will focus on the needs of CUNY senior colleges and their students. It will be 4 PM Wed., Apr. 25 at the Brooklyn College Library (2900 Bedford Ave.). The Bronx hearing will focus on the community colleges and their students. It will be 4 PM Thurs., May 3 at Bronx Community College in Nichols Hall, room 104 (2155 University Ave.). Demands to be raised at the hearings will include: the hiring of additional faculty and staff, fair pay for adjuncts, and repair of CUNY’s crumbling infrastructure, as well as protection of students’ rights to control the activity fees that support student activism and campus press. Come join CUNY Rising at one of the hearings to help build support in Albany and City Hall for investment in quality, affordable college education.
