BMCC Academic Senate Passes Resolution for a Moratorium on Pathways

Another college curriculum-approving body has taken a stand against Pathways.

On Thursday, November 28, the Academic Senate at Borough of Manhattan Community College passed a resolution calling for a moratorium by the Chancellery on all further implementation of Pathways. The resolution also says that the Senate will not act on any Pathways courses or Pathways curriculum changes until an ad hoc committee of the Academic Senate “can be convened, charged with a review of the transfer issues facing BMCC students, meet with their peers at other CUNY community colleges and then report back to the Senate.”

The BMCC faculty are following the lead of the union’s Delegate Assembly, which has called for an immediate moratorium on all further implementation of Pathways until the CUNY Central Administration explicitly withdraws all forms of coercion and pressure directed at faculty, staff, departments and other governance bodies.
