His work is concentrated on political filmmaking and his latest book is Cinema and the Sandinistas (2003, Texas). He serves on the PSC Executive Council and chairs the PSC’s Labor Goes to the Movies Committee. (NOTE: Jonathan Buchsbaum is on sabbatical and Hester Eisenstein is acting chair this semester. Her email is hester1@prodigy.net) Vice-chair and Delegate: Hester Eisenstein, Sociology. She teaches here and at the Graduate Center and her work focuses on the sociology of gender and women and globalization. She wrote Inside Agitators: Australian Femocrats and the State (1996) and has been an activist in the women's movement since the 1970s, and served last semester as Acting Chapter Chair. Secretary and Delegate: Roopali Mukherjee, Media Studies. Her writing and research examines race within contemporary public culture in the U.S., most recently The Racial Order of Things (2006). Dr. Mukherjee serves on the Executive Committee and as PSC grievance counselor for Queens College. Delegate: Ann Davison, English. Prof. Davison who began teaching part-time at QC in 1985 is the Assoc. Dir. of the Freshman Year Initiative. As a delegate, she continues to represent the interests of part-time faculty in keeping with the New Caucus commitment to the union’s diverse membership. Delegate: Jennifer Eddy, Secondary Education and Youth Services. Dr. Eddy teaches World Language Education and served on the Academic Senate for two years. As a New Caucus delegate, she will fight to win a fair contract for all, protect department chairs, and make faculty salaries truly competitive. Delegate: Hugh English, English. Prof. English has worked as a Writing Program Administrator, a scholar and a teacher for the past two decades at three public universities in the Northeast. He is interested in the deep intersections among teaching, learning, material working conditions and civic life. Delegate: Steve Pekar, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Prof. Pekar researches paleoclimate and paleoceanographic changes from places around the world including Antarctica and New Zealand. Delegate: Carl Lindskoog, History. Prof. Lindskoog teaches part-time and is an active member of the PSC Part-Timers' Committee. He coordinates the Adjunct Project of the Doctoral Students' Council at the Graduate Center. Delegate: Manny Sanudo, Library. Manny Sanudo has an MLS from Pratt and an MA from NYU and teaches in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. He has served on the Academic Senate and is committed to winning a good contract for everyone with particular attention to the unique problems of CUNY’s Librarians. Delegate: Jack Zevin, Secondary Education and Youth Services. Dr. Zevin is a lifelong social studies and history education specialist, who has published widely including a recent third edition of Social Studies for the 21st Century. He is a long-time advocate of unionism as both a practice and a philosophy. Alternate Delegate: Duncan Faherty, English. Prof. Faherty finished his PhD at the CUNY Graduate Center while teaching part-time before becoming full-time in the fall of 2003. He looks forward to working as an Alternate Delegate to improve the working conditions at Queens. Alternate Delegate: Elena Frangakis-Syrett, History. Prof. Frangakis-Syrett teaches Middle Eastern and European History at QC and the Graduate Center. Her most recent book is Trade and Money (2007). With the PSC, she wants to help win a fair contract for all its members and strengthen CUNY. Alternate Delegate: Francois Pierre-Louis, Political Science. Dr. Pierre-Louis worked as a community organizer in Haiti and Brooklyn prior to joining the Queens College faculty. Alternate Delegate: Cicely Rodway, SEEK/English. Dr. Rodway is a poet and teacher who has been engaged in union activities throughout her career, and she looks forward to continuing to do so. Alternate Delegate: Bette Weidman, English. Prof. Weidman has been in the Department since 1968. Her union activities have included being an alternate to the DA, working as a Faculty Welfare representative and serving on the Health and Safety Committee At-large Officer: Alyson Cole, Political Science. She wrote The Cult of True Victimhood: From the War on Welfare to the War on Terror (2006) and teaches at Queens and the CUNY Graduate Center. At-large Officer: Carrie Hintz, English. Dr. Hintz specializes in 17th/ 18th century literature, life writing, utopian studies and children's literature at Queens and the Graduate Center. She is the President of The Society for Utopian Studies and looks forward to working with colleagues on union matters. At-large Officer: Jeff Maskovsky, Urban Studies. His research and writing focuses on urban poverty, grassroots activism and political economic change in the U. S. An anthropologist, he has collaborated with community and non-profit groups on community health, HIV treatment and education programs. At-large Officer: Richard Maxwell, Media Studies. He chairs the department and works on the political economy of media, with specific interest in surveillance, intellectual property, and the international division of cultural labor. One of his most recent books is Herbert Schiller (2003). Welfare Fund Advisory Council: Ben Chitty, Rosenthal Library. He is a HEO Associate who has served as Library Systems Officer for more than twenty years. He has been on the Council since 2002, active on health and safety issues and cross-union organizing and veteran’s issues university-wide. Welfare Fund Advisory Council: Marci Goodman, English. She coordinates College Now. For two years, she served as CUNY-wide grievance counselor for part-time faculty and was the acting QC campus grievance counselor for full-timers during Spring 2006.
